Bengaluru FC face a tough proposition as they gear up to face the Persipura Jayapura challenge at the Mandala Stadium, Indonesia on Tuesday in their second group E AFC Cup encounter.
The Indonesian giants come into the game having been unbeaten in their last six fixtures and only dropping two points in their 2-2 draw against Persib. They have also had considerable rest before the tie having last played on the 24th of last month.
It must be noted that the last home game they lost was back in September last year when they were thrashed 6-0 by Kuwait’s Qadsiya in the semi-finals of the AFC Cup. In the Indonesian Super League (ISL), they haven’t lost a game on home soil for over two years.
The Black Pearl, as they are famously known haven’t yet lost to an opposition from India at the Mandala Stadium as they have downed East Bengal 4-1 and Churchill Brothers 2-0 in the previous seasons.
They rely heavily on striker Boaz Solossa who has represented Persipura throughout his career having scored 137 goals since he started off in 2004. Possessing a powerful left foot, he scored a wonderful goal in Persipura's 3-1 win over Warriors in their last official game.
Robertino Pugliara provides the much needed creativity in the team and can also get the goals when needed, having scored thrice in 14 appearances last season.
